     In today's devotional, I want to focus on how to keep your tongue from evil by looking at the potential of how our words can carry people along on the same path we take in life. Lets imagine for a minute that we are taking a trip on a ship. 

Verse: "Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts." James 3:5

  • In reading James 3:2-6, how can the tongue be compared to the rudder of a ship and who is the ship?

In reading the following verses, think about how words can direct the path or course of a person's life:

In the next section, read 1 Peter 3:10-11 and answer the following questions: 

If we are trying to steer our ship in the right direction, which way would we run the rudder?

"Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their ______________ from evil and their ______________ from deceitful speech. They must _____________ from evil and do good: they must seek peace and pursue it."
